In a heartfelt address on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed to track down and punish every individual involved in the tragic attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent people, mostly tourists. Speaking out for the first time after the April 22 attack, Modi’s voice echoed with resolve as he promised that no terrorist, nor their backers, would escape justice.

Addressing the nation from Bihar, Modi made it clear in both Hindi and English, “Today, from this soil, I say to the world – India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their supporters. We will pursue them relentlessly, wherever they may be. Terrorism will never break our spirit.”

He went on to emphasize the collective strength of the nation, stating, “Every effort will be made to ensure justice is served. The entire nation is united in this resolve. Humanity stands with us, and we are grateful for the support from countries and leaders around the world.”

Without directly naming Pakistan, Modi conveyed a strong message: “I will be crystal clear—those behind this attack, and those who orchestrated it, will face consequences beyond their imagination. Punishment will be meted out.”

Modi expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families, highlighting that the loss was felt across the entire nation. “The pain of losing sons, brothers, and fathers is shared by all of us. The victims came from every corner of India—Bengal, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, and Bihar. Our grief and anger are united, from Kargil to Kanniyakumari.”

As the nation mourns, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that peace and security are essential for India’s growth. He spoke about the importance of standing together as a country, especially in the face of such brutal acts of violence.

This attack, which deeply shocked the nation, has sparked widespread outrage and calls for decisive action. In response, the Indian government recently downgraded diplomatic relations with Pakistan and implemented measures, including expelling Pakistani military attaches and suspending the Indus Water Treaty of 1960, in a direct response to the cross-border links involved in the attack.

As the nation grieves, the Prime Minister’s message of determination stands firm—terrorism will not go unpunished, and India’s resolve to protect its citizens remains unshakable.
