Trump Vows to Boost Trade with India and Pakistan, Calls Them “Great Nations”

WASHINGTON — In a late-night post on Saturday (May 10), former U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his intention to strengthen trade ties with both India and Pakistan, calling them “great Nations” in a message shared on his social platform, TruthSocial.

“I’m going to increase trade, substantially, with both of these great Nations,” Trump wrote, shortly after news broke that India and Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire following a tense period of deadly conflict.

The gesture, though rooted in economic strategy, also carried a tone of encouragement toward peace and cooperation between the two historically tense neighbors.

Still, despite the ceasefire, reports suggest that both sides have continued to accuse each other of violating the truce — a reminder of the fragile nature of their relationship.

Trump’s statement may be seen as an attempt to play a positive role in promoting stability and economic collaboration in South Asia, where diplomatic tensions often overshadow shared interests.
