The much-anticipated results of the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024 will be revealed tomorrow, October 8, as vote counting is set to begin at 8 a.m. Polling officials and party representatives are expected to gather at their respective counting centers by 5 a.m., with preparatory briefings and stationing at the counting tables completed by 6 a.m.

The counting process will commence with postal ballots, which include votes from specially designated groups such as persons with disabilities, security personnel, and government employees in essential services. Once postal ballots are counted, the tallying of votes cast through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will begin.

Early trends are expected to emerge around midday, with clearer projections by late afternoon. Results for each assembly constituency will be announced once the counting is completed. India follows the first-past-the-post system, meaning the candidate with the highest number of votes in each constituency is declared the winner.

Election Phases and Turnout:

The Jammu & Kashmir Assembly Elections were conducted in three phases. The first phase, held on September 18, recorded a voter turnout of 61.38%, followed by a 57.31% turnout in the second phase on September 25. In the final phase on October 1, voter participation increased to 65.48% by 5 p.m. The election results, which could shape the region’s political landscape, will be announced tomorrow, October 8.
