Srinagar, – If you were planning to catch a flight out of Srinagar today, you’ll need to pause those plans. In a sudden move, Srinagar Airport has temporarily shut down all civilian flight operations for the day.
Director of the airport, Javed Anjum, confirmed early this morning, “The airfield is closed, and no civil flights will operate from Srinagar Airport today.”
This closure follows a high-level military operation—Operation Sindoor—in which the Indian Armed Forces reportedly carried out precision strikes on terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC). While official details on the operation remain limited, the airfield is now being fully utilized by the Indian Air Force.
For travelers, this has caused understandable stress and uncertainty. People planning family trips, medical travel, or business journeys have found themselves scrambling for answers. Authorities are asking everyone to stay calm and to double-check flight statuses directly with airlines before making their way to the airport.
While such sudden disruptions can feel overwhelming, many in the Valley are showing understanding. “It’s inconvenient, sure—but if it’s for our security, we have to bear it,” said a passenger waiting outside the airport.
As of now, there’s no official word on when civilian flights will resume. Stay connected with your airline and keep an eye on updates from the airport.
