Srinagar, July 9 – In a heartfelt and strategic push to revive the pulse of Kashmir’s tourism industry, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir is stepping beyond borders—both geographical and emotional. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will spearhead the region’s revival story at the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) Kolkata 2025, determined to restore faith in Kashmir as a land of beauty, peace, and unforgettable experiences.
On July 10, just a day before TTF officially begins, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is set to inaugurate a special roadshow organized by the Travel Agents Society of Kashmir (TASK). This moment isn’t just ceremonial—it’s a declaration: Kashmir is healing, and it’s ready to welcome the world again.
This campaign marks the first major outreach effort by the government outside the Valley since the deeply tragic terrorist attack in Baisaran, Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists. That day left scars across the tourism sector and within the hearts of many, shaking what was to be a thriving travel season.
But in pain, the human spirit often finds resilience. In an inspiring show of solidarity, tourism stakeholders from Kolkata launched the “Chalo Kashmir” movement—urging fellow Indians not to be swayed by fear. Their message was clear: Kashmir deserves our love, not our silence.
Now, that love is being reciprocated. The government, under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, is taking deliberate steps to rebuild trust. “His presence isn’t just symbolic,” said Muhammad Ibrahim Siah, President of TASK. “It’s a boost to our morale and a reaffirmation that Kashmir’s story isn’t over—it’s being rewritten.”
The roadshow will offer more than just breathtaking visuals of snow-capped mountains and serene lakes. It will spotlight heritage trails, spiritual journeys, and the warmth of Kashmiri hospitality. A delegation of senior tourism officials, hoteliers, travel agents, and artisans will proudly represent the Valley’s diverse offerings.
TTF Kolkata 2025, being held from July 11–13 at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, is expected to host over 10,000 visitors and 400+ exhibitors. With its strong mix of business and public interaction, the fair is a crucial opportunity to reshape perceptions and reignite curiosity in travelers’ hearts.
This isn’t just a PR exercise—it’s a movement. A movement that reminds us all that Kashmir isn’t defined by tragedy but by its timeless beauty, cultural richness, and the unwavering spirit of its people.
The government’s presence at TTF is just the beginning. A wave of campaigns—digital, physical, and emotional—is on the horizon to reaffirm that Kashmir is, and always will be, a destination worth exploring.
The message is simple but powerful: Kashmir is open. Safe. And waiting with open arms.
