HONG KONG, Sept 22 — In anticipation of the arrival of Super Typhoon Ragasa, Cathay Pacific has made the difficult decision to cancel more than 500 flights, placing the safety of passengers and crew at the forefront of its operations.
At a press briefing on Monday, a spokesperson for the airline announced that all passenger flights to and from Hong Kong International Airport will be suspended from 6 PM on September 23. Services are expected to gradually resume during daylight hours on Thursday, weather conditions permitting.
This move follows official warnings of dangerous weather conditions expected to sweep through the region, with strong winds, torrential rains, and widespread travel disruptions likely.
While the cancellation may cause temporary inconvenience, Cathay Pacific emphasized that passenger safety remains its top priority. Affected travelers are encouraged to check flight statuses via the airline’s website or mobile app and to reach out for rebooking assistance or refunds.
