US and Israel Accuse Iran of Plotting to Kill Israeli Ambassador in Mexico — Tehran Denies Allegations as “Big Lie”

World News

Tensions between Israel and Iran surged once again after the United States and Israel accused Tehran of orchestrating an assassination plot against Israel’s ambassador to Mexico, Einat Kranz-Neiger. The Iranian government quickly dismissed the claim, calling it “a big lie,” while Mexican authorities stated they had no information regarding such an incident.

According to Israel’s Foreign Ministry, Mexican security forces successfully disrupted an Iranian-directed terrorist network that aimed to target the Israeli ambassador. The statement expressed gratitude to Mexican authorities for their “swift action and cooperation.”

However, Mexico’s Foreign Ministry clarified that it had not received any official communication about the alleged plot. The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection also noted its openness to “respectful and coordinated cooperation” within the boundaries of its national sovereignty.

Iran’s embassy in Mexico firmly rejected the accusation, claiming it was an attempt to damage the “friendly and historic relations” between Iran and Mexico. Tehran has long maintained that such allegations are part of a broader disinformation campaign designed to isolate the country internationally.

A U.S. official, speaking anonymously, alleged that Iran’s elite Quds Force initiated the plot in late 2024, potentially involving operatives from Iran’s embassy in Venezuela—one of Tehran’s regional allies. No concrete evidence was provided.

The accusations come amid ongoing hostilities. Israel’s April 2024 strike on Iran’s embassy in Damascus killed several senior Revolutionary Guard officers, prompting Iran’s retaliatory missile attacks. The cycle of strikes and counterstrikes has since expanded, engulfing much of the region in violence.

Iran, a staunch supporter of Hamas, continues to face global scrutiny for its alleged involvement in attacks beyond its borders. Meanwhile, Latin America has a long and painful history with Middle Eastern-linked violence, such as the 1994 Buenos Aires Jewish center bombing.

Despite the diplomatic hostility, Iran remains home to an ancient Jewish community — a reminder of the region’s deep historical ties that often contrast sharply with modern political divisions.

At the heart of it all lies a pressing question for humanity: when will nations choose dialogue over destruction, truth over propaganda, and peace over political gamesmanship? Because in the end, it is not governments, but ordinary people, who bear the heaviest cost of every accusation, every missile, and every mistrust.
