Iran Dismisses Western Allegations of Assassination Plots as Politically Motivated Distraction

TEHRAN, Aug 1 — In a strong rebuttal, Iran has firmly denied the recent accusations by the United States and several Western allies claiming Tehran orchestrated assassination and abduction attempts targeting dissidents, journalists, and officials abroad.

Speaking on behalf of the Iranian government, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei described the allegations as “baseless” and politically charged. “This is nothing more than an orchestrated distraction from the real humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in occupied Palestine,” Baqaei stated in Friday’s press release.

The coordinated condemnation came a day earlier in a joint statement from the US, UK, France, Germany, and others, who accused Iranian intelligence services of orchestrating cross-border threats. The Western powers alleged Iran was “actively collaborating with international criminal organizations” to intimidate and harm individuals—particularly journalists, Jewish citizens, dissidents, and even current or former officials—within their territories.

“This is a clear violation of our sovereignty,” the joint statement read. “We are united in opposition to these threats, and we will not tolerate attempts to undermine the safety and freedoms of people on our soil.”

Iran, however, pushed back strongly. Baqaei called the joint statement “a deliberate fabrication designed to fuel Iranophobia.” He argued that such claims not only lack evidence but also serve as a strategic tool to vilify the Iranian nation at a time when global attention should be focused on humanitarian justice in Palestine.

“This campaign is not new,” Baqaei continued, “but it’s clear that some powers are intensifying efforts to isolate Iran diplomatically through fear, misinformation, and public manipulation.”

While diplomatic tensions continue to rise, the Iranian government remains adamant that these claims are nothing more than diversionary tactics rooted in geopolitical interests rather than truth.
